LIV Golf chief Greg Norman breaks silence on future as commissioner amid speculation

LIV Golf CEO and commissioner Greg Norman recently addressed speculation surrounding his future with the breakaway golf league. Norman’s contract, which is set to end in August 2025, has raised questions about his continued leadership, especially as rumors circulate that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) may seek new management.

Known as the driving force behind LIV’s founding in 2022, Norman led efforts to recruit star players such as Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, and Jon Rahm, securing substantial funding from PIF to challenge the PGA Tour.

The competitive landscape has changed significantly since LIV’s inception, as discussions about a potential merger with the PGA Tour have opened up the possibility of both leagues coexisting.

Despite his successes, Norman’s future remains uncertain, as reports suggest PIF may consider appointing a new CEO. In a recent interview with *Sports Illustrated*, Norman confirmed his contract timeline and reaffirmed his commitment to LIV’s goals through 2025. He clarified that while he has not been directly involved in the merger discussions, he views an agreement as mutually beneficial.

Reflecting on LIV’s initial opposition from the PGA Tour, Norman voiced frustration over what he saw as a missed opportunity for early collaboration. However, he remains focused on guiding LIV Golf forward, confident in its trajectory and impact on the sport.
