Emma Raducanu has been nominated for the 2024 WTA Comeback Player of the Year award, a recognition of her remarkable return to professional tennis after enduring surgeries on both wrists and her left ankle. Starting the year ranked outside the top 300, Raducanu’s dedication and resilience propelled her back into the world’s top 60 despite competing in just 13 tournaments.

Key highlights of her season include reaching the semi-finals in Nottingham, quarter-finals in Stuttgart, Eastbourne, Washington, D.C., and Seoul, as well as an impressive fourth-round showing at Wimbledon. This marks her second nomination for a WTA award, following her win as the 2021 Newcomer of the Year after her historic US Open triumph as a qualifier.

Raducanu’s nomination places her among a competitive field that includes Naomi Osaka, Paula Badosa, Karolina Muchova, and Amanda Anisimova. The 2024 WTA Awards also feature other prestigious categories, including Player of the Year, where Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Jasmine Paolini, and Qinwen Zheng have been shortlisted.

With Sabalenka finishing the season as World No.1 and clinching major titles at the Australian Open and US Open, she emerges as the favorite for the top honor. Winners of all categories, determined by the international tennis media, will be announced in December, celebrating a season filled with resilience, breakthroughs, and historic moments in women’s tennis.
