Nelly Korda made 1 key gear change before her 7th LPGA win

World No. 1 Nelly Korda has been nothing short of dominant this season, clinching her seventh win at The Annika to cap a historic year. However, the victory came with a notable adjustment to her game—a change in her putter.

Despite winning six times earlier in the season, including five consecutive starts and a major title at the Chevron Championship, Korda endured a mid-season slump, missing three straight cuts, including the U.S. Women’s Open.

Determined to regain her edge, she tested a few Spider Tour models from TaylorMade, eventually settling on a custom Spider Tour X with an L-neck design and a short sightline. This adjustment paid dividends as she stormed back with a runner-up finish at the AIG Women’s Open, a strong performance at the Solheim Cup, and another top-five finish before her recent triumph.

The new putter has proven transformative for Korda, helping her break out of a challenging phase marked by inconsistency and injury. After benching her trusted Scotty Cameron Squareback 2, which had secured her major wins, Korda relied on the Spider Tour X to deliver precise putting when it mattered most.

Her win at The Annika also marked her return from a two-month hiatus due to a neck injury, further cementing her resilience and adaptability.

With this gear tweak, Korda not only became the first American to win seven times in an LPGA season since 1990 but also reinforced her reputation as a meticulous and daring competitor unafraid to make bold changes to her game.
