Willagee driver charged over hitting Matildas’ star Sam Kerr’s grandmother Coral in Palmyra

A 63-year-old man from Willagee has been charged with dangerous driving after allegedly running over Coral Kerr, the 89-year-old grandmother of Matildas captain Sam Kerr, at a bus stop near her Palmyra home. The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Friday when Coral Kerr was hit after disembarking from a bus.

The driver, operating a white Great Wall ute, reportedly attempted to overtake the stationary bus near the intersection of Marmion and Justinian Streets before driving onto the footpath and striking Ms. Kerr. She was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, and neighbors, who assisted her, described her as unresponsive at the scene.

The driver has been charged with one count of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court on February 4. Authorities are urging anyone with information, including dash-cam footage, to contact Crime Stoppers.
