This update comes at a crucial time as she prepares for an upcoming series of tournaments.
Thompson took to Instagram to share details about her health, assuring her followers that she is doing well. In an Instagram story, she discussed the MRI scan and X-ray she underwent after the unfortunate incident. These medical procedures revealed important information about her condition.
On her Instagram story, Lexi Thompson explained that she fell down the stairs a few days prior, resulting in significant pain in her hands and tailbone. The MRI scan of her hand uncovered inflammation and swelling around the bones, in addition to tendinitis. As Thompson reported, “Little update. Got an MRI on hand and showed inflammation and swelling around the bones and some tendinitis.”
For her tailbone, Thompson underwent an X-ray, which indicated minor issues but thankfully no fractures. She shared this part of her health update, saying, “Also got an X-ray on the tailbone. And shows cortical irregularity in the most distal aspect of coccyx. But no definitive fracture.”
Lexi Thompson’s health update is particularly significant given the LPGA tournaments scheduled from November 9 to 12 at the Pelican Golf Club. The competition is fierce, with only the top 60 LPGA members earning a spot in the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship. As of now, Lexi Thompson is ranked 88th and needs a series of victories to secure her spot in this prestigious event. Despite the timing of her injury, she remains determined and resolute in her commitment to the sport, vowing to push through the pain. In her own words, “Even though it’s not ideal timing, I’m going to do my best to push through the pain the best I can.”
