‘Ask Jay’: Greg Norman Jr Doesn’t Hold Back After PGA Tour Boss Insulted His Dad’s Reconciliation Efforts

Greg Norman Jr. recently spoke out against PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan’s resistance to a merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour, joining a chorus of voices frustrated by the prolonged feud. His father, golf legend Greg Norman, has also publicly expressed disappointment with the stalled negotiations, citing Monahan’s approach as a roadblock to a merger that could benefit all parties involved.

In a recent interview, the elder Norman noted that a union would ease tension and bring new life to the sport, criticizing the unnecessary complexity of the current landscape. LIV Golf, he argues, is moving forward regardless of PGA Tour’s stance, but he believes collaboration could simplify things for everyone involved.

Norman Jr. went a step further, suggesting a radical concept for LIV Golf that would turn golf’s traditional structure on its head. In a tweet, he proposed the creation of a “People’s Team” for LIV Golf, a team anyone could qualify for, with the added potential for public ownership and shared governance.

This idea, he believes, would not only democratize the sport but also create compelling, Cinderella-style stories that could energize fans. With other players, like Cam Smith, advocating for innovation, Norman Jr.’s vision underscores the shifting dynamics in professional golf, highlighting LIV’s push to innovate while the PGA Tour holds firm to its traditional ways.
