Laurie Canter, a professional golfer with past ties to LIV Golf, recently spoke about the evolving relationship between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Now competing in the DP World Tour’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Canter believes the tension between the tours has “softened.

” While he acknowledges the opportunity for players to compete on three major circuits, he notes that many players are “sick” of the ongoing conflicts in the professional golf world. Despite his positive stance on the growth and potential of pro golf, he emphasized the need for clear pathways for players across tours, underscoring the importance of finding a unified resolution.

Canter, who returned to the European Tour after losing his spot on LIV Golf’s roster, continues to pursue a career on the PGA Tour, though his eligibility remains uncertain. He described the PGA’s decision to ban players with LIV affiliations as “absurd,” expressing frustration over his ineligibility.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Canter shared that while the situation feels more cooperative than in 2022, there’s still no definitive progress on a merger between the PGA Tour and Saudi-backed LIV Golf. Currently ranked 26th in the Race to Dubai standings, Canter is vying for a spot in the PGA through the DP World Tour’s ’10 Cards Initiative,’ highlighting the potential for career growth amid a complex, evolving golf landscape.
