Brooks Koepka and Jena Sims recently celebrated a joyful milestone with their son, Crew Sims Koepka, who was born prematurely in July 2023. After an early battle with health challenges, including time in the NICU and corrective headgear for Flat Head Syndrome and torticollis, Crew has now officially shed his helmet.

The family shared this special moment on social media, with Sims posting heartwarming photos of Crew taking in the New York skyline without his helmet. She also posted a shot of the retired helmet, which bore a celebratory engraving—“I love NY”—marking the progress Crew has made. Additionally, Sims added Brooks Koepka’s team name, “Smash GC,” to commemorate their victory in the LIV Golf Las Vegas event.

Beyond his headgear, Crew has also overcome a pelvic condition called Hip Dysplasia, which required him to wear a Pavlik Harness for hip stability. This harness was essential due to the instability of his hip joint following his premature birth.

Fortunately, Crew has now outgrown both the helmet and harness and continues to thrive, hitting new milestones with each passing month. Now 14 months old, he is enjoying an active childhood, and the Koepka family feels optimistic about his future, watching him enjoy the world without the limitations he once faced.
