Can Alcaraz Become Even More Dominant? Andy Roddick Thinks So

Tennis prodigy Carlos Alcaraz is already a two-time Grand Slam champion, but according to former world No. 1 Andy Roddick, there’s still room for improvement.

Alcaraz, at the young age of 20, has achieved what many tennis players only dream of. He’s collected major titles, reached the top of the rankings, and earned comparisons to the legendary Big Three – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

Roddick Believes Alcaraz Can Learn From Djokovic’s Mentality

In a recent podcast episode, Roddick dissected the playing styles of the Big Three and how they can influence Alcaraz’s game. While acknowledging Alcaraz’s talent, Roddick suggested the Spaniard could benefit from adopting a more strategic approach, similar to Novak Djokovic.

“The best version of himself will be when he gets a little more Novak into his game,” said Roddick. This mentality would involve Alcaraz focusing on being more efficient and not relying solely on spectacular shots.

Roddick’s Advice Echoes Andre Agassi’s Coaching

Roddick’s comments align with advice previously given to Alcaraz by Andre Agassi. Agassi, another tennis legend, emphasized the importance of Alcaraz developing a more “boring” style of play, focusing on controlling opponents rather than attempting highlight-reel shots every point.

By incorporating these suggestions, Alcaraz could potentially extend his dominance on the court and solidify his position as a future tennis great.
