“Crazy how life works” – Lindsey Vonn on young fans being her current teammates on U.S. ski team

Lindsey Vonn, a celebrated name in alpine skiing, recently reflected on her unique “full circle” experience upon returning to the sport after a six-year hiatus. Sharing the slopes with teammates who once admired her as fans, Vonn finds herself skiing alongside young athletes Allison Mollin and Bella Wright for the 2024-25 season.

Mollin, 18, and Wright, 27, grew up watching Vonn dominate the mountains, and now they share the U.S. Ski Team roster with their idol. In an Instagram post, Vonn recalled meeting Mollin and Wright as young girls and compared the moment to her own journey, when she joined the team as a teenager alongside her childhood hero, Picabo Street.

Now 40, Vonn is embracing her return with gratitude and purpose. Having begun training at Copper Mountain, Colorado, she is preparing for the demanding downhill challenges ahead. While Vonn remains the most decorated American woman in alpine skiing history, with an Olympic gold medal and 82 World Cup victories, she emphasizes that her comeback is not about chasing records.

Instead, it’s about cherishing her love for the sport and honoring her late mother’s memory. With her sights on the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, a venue where she has excelled before, Vonn’s comeback signifies both a personal and professional renaissance.
