On December 8, Coco Gauff shared a deeply personal moment with her mother, Candi, and grandmother, Yvonne, at a church service. The 20-year-old tennis star, known for her unwavering faith and strong family ties, gave fans a glimpse into her spiritual life by posting a photo on Instagram of the three generations posing in front of a Christmas tree.

Captioning the post “3 generations,” Gauff highlighted the pivotal role her family plays in her life and career. Both her mother and grandmother have been instrumental in shaping her values and providing a support system that has propelled her to remarkable achievements, including her historic 2023 US Open victory.

Gauff’s grandmother, Yvonne Lee Odom, is a particularly inspiring figure, having broken racial barriers as the first Black student at Seacrest High School in Florida. Yvonne’s trailblazing spirit has influenced Gauff to use her platform to advocate for social justice issues. Beyond her family, Gauff’s faith remains a cornerstone of her life.

A devout Christian and choir member at Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, she often prays with her father before matches, a tradition she started at age eight.

Reflecting on her faith, she said, “God puts you through trials,” referring to her loss at the 2022 French Open and the subsequent triumph at the US Open. For Gauff, family and faith are not just personal anchors—they are sources of strength and resilience that fuel her success on and off the court.
