Former world No. 1 golfer Jason Day recently opened up about why he was never offered a contract by LIV Golf. The 36-year-old Australian, who has battled chronic back pain for over a decade, shared that his persistent injury troubles deterred the Saudi-backed league from making him an offer.

Despite his accomplishments, including winning the 2015 PGA Championship and reaching the pinnacle of golf’s rankings, Day’s injuries were seen as a significant risk by LIV Golf. In an interview with Code Sports Australia, Day explained, “I don’t blame them. They love me, but I get too many injuries.” He added that he’s content on the PGA Tour and never seriously entertained a move to LIV since no deal was proposed.

Though Day hasn’t secured a victory this season, his performance remains strong as he currently holds the 36th position in the world rankings. In recent years, he’s had notable comebacks, with his most recent win at the AT&T Byron Nelson ending a five-year drought.

While he has missed only three cuts this year, his best showing came with a 13th-place finish at The Open at Royal Troon. Day remains a respected figure on the PGA Tour, resiliently navigating a career impacted by injuries yet still demonstrating his skill on the course.
