Greg Norman’s son ‘preaching’ for major LIV Golf change after PGA Tour backlash

Greg Norman Jr. has advocated for significant changes within LIV Golf, suggesting that the organization adopt a more inclusive, fan-driven approach. Amid recent discussions on the PGA Tour’s structure, including the possibility of reducing Monday qualifiers, Norman Jr. believes LIV Golf could stand out by creating a “People’s Team” that allows any golfer to compete.

His vision includes a system where players could qualify for the People’s Team on a weekly basis, and those who perform well would remain. Additionally, he proposed that fans could participate in shared ownership and governance of the team, aiming to bring a more accessible and engaging dimension to the sport.

The proposal has generated mixed reactions, but many see potential in the concept. Some followers on X (formerly Twitter) expanded on the idea, suggesting a points-based system to track player performance over the season, ultimately allowing the top performers from the People’s Team to compete in LIV’s Season Team Championship.

Norman Jr. believes that this approach could democratize golf by giving lesser-known players a chance to face off against elite golfers like Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka. While the proposal may need fine-tuning, supporters are hopeful it could help LIV Golf capture a broader audience by welcoming new faces and creating a fresh narrative in professional golf.
