Nico Echavarria claimed his second PGA Tour title with a dramatic one-shot victory at the Zozo Championship in Chiba, Japan, edging out Justin Thomas and Max Greyserman.

This triumph not only solidified the 30-year-old Colombian’s standing on the Tour but also secured him a coveted spot at the Masters, a dream he’s held since first experiencing Japan’s competitive golf scene a decade ago at the World Amateur Team Championship.

Reflecting on his win, Echavarria shared his excitement about his first trip to Augusta National, emphasizing the significance of winning his way to the Masters and fulfilling a lifelong goal.

The Zozo Championship saw intense competition, with Greyserman nearly forcing a playoff and Thomas missing crucial birdie opportunities in the final holes. Ultimately, Echavarria’s poise shone through as he finished birdie-par-birdie to cap off a three-under-par 67, posting a 72-hole total of 20 under (260), just one shot better than Tiger Woods’ previous tournament record.

Following his victory, Echavarria connected emotionally with his family, crediting his parents as his inspiration for pursuing golf. Fueled by role models like Woods and strengthened by his experiences, Echavarria’s career momentum is only building, and he looks forward to teeing up at Augusta next spring.
