Born as Alexis Noel Thompson on February 10, 1995, in Coral Springs, Florida, Lexi Thompson’s passion for golf began at an early age. Growing up in a family of golfers, with her brothers Nicholas and Curtis also pursuing professional careers in golf, she was destined for the sport. Lexi was homeschooled and completed her education at a young age.

Thompson first gained widespread recognition during her amateur career when she qualified for the 2007 Women’s U.S. Open at the remarkable age of 12, making her the youngest qualifier in the history of the championship. Her notable amateur achievements included winning the 2008 U.S. Girls’ Junior and representing the United States in the 2010 Curtis Cup.

Lexi Thompson embarked on her professional golf career on June 16, 2010. Initially relying on sponsor exemptions to compete in tournaments, her perseverance paid off as she secured her place in the field for major events. Notably, she finished T10 in the 2010 US Women’s Open, marking her first professional accomplishment.

She continued to make waves in the golfing world, notably becoming the youngest female winner of an LPGA event when she clinched the Navistar LPGA Classic in 2011 at just 16 years old. Following her successful petition to become an LPGA Tour member in 2012, Thompson has scripted an impressive eleven wins on the LPGA Tour, with her most recent victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in 2019.

Thompson’s most notable achievement came in 2014 when she won the Chevron Championship, now known as the Kraft Nabisco Championship, at the age of 19. Her three-stroke victory over Michelle Wie West not only secured her first major championship but also a substantial $300,000 in earnings.

Throughout her career, Lexi Thompson has represented the United States in various national team events, both as an amateur and a professional. Her contributions have been significant, with Team USA winning twice in the Solheim Cup during her professional career in 2015 and 2017.
