Lindsey Vonn has officially returned to professional skiing, qualifying for World Cup competition nearly six years after her retirement. The American alpine skiing legend competed in the FIS Fall Festival at Copper Mountain, Colorado, where she participated in two Super G races, finishing 24th and 19th.

While these results were modest, Vonn emphasized that her focus was on reacclimating to competitive skiing and testing her equipment. She described the event as a stepping stone, aimed at gaining the points necessary to race at the World Cup level.

Reflecting on her performance, Vonn expressed her excitement on social media, stating, “Well… after a solid weekend of races, I am now qualified to race World Cup! Let’s see when I’m ready.”

The 39-year-old skier’s return had been widely anticipated following months of speculation fueled by her training sessions in New Zealand earlier this year. Vonn shared her joy at reuniting with her team and returning to the slopes, calling the races a valuable training experience.

“Today was a solid start, and I had a blast being in the start with my teammates again!” she wrote. Despite being away from professional skiing for years, Vonn is optimistic about her progress, focusing more on her technique than immediate results.

She expressed gratitude to her fans and team for their unwavering support, calling this milestone “only the beginning.” With her qualification secured, Vonn’s comeback story continues to inspire fans and reignite excitement in the skiing world.
