The regret he expressed hints at a complex personal history, especially considering the seemingly idyllic life he once shared with Elin Nordegren and their children.

Woods and Nordegren’s relationship began almost a decade before their marriage, but the inception was far from the fairy tale one might expect. Introduced through Swedish golfer Jesper Parnevik in 2001, Woods approached Nordegren, who was initially apprehensive about entering the world of celebrity. Sobieraj Westfall, a friend, revealed Nordegren’s reservations, stating, “She had her opinions about celebrities, and they were not high. And she’s very shy, so the idea of joining that world was not appealing to her.”

This reluctance led to Nordegren turning down Woods initially. However, with time, she reconsidered, giving their relationship a chance. This transformation became evident at the 2022 PNC Championship when Woods and their son congratulated Nordegren on the birth of her third child.
