Tiger Woods Announces Decision On PNC Championship With His Son

Tiger Woods’ schedule seems to get lighter by the year, as he continues to deal with age and multiple injuries.

Woods last played at The Open in July, missing the cut after shooting 14-over for the first two days of the event. Tiger is widely regarded as the greatest of all time, but he’s more focused on experiences with his son Charlie as he begins his golf career.

With that goal in mind, Woods has announced his intention to play with Charlie in the upcoming PNC Championship.

“I’m very excited to head back to the PNC Championship next week with Charlie,” Woods said, preparing for next weekend’s event in Orlando.

“Playing together is something we look forward to and it’s always more special when you’re surrounded by friends and family.”

The father-and-son duo first competed at the PNC event back in 2020, when Charlie was only 11 years old. 2024 will mark their fifth consecutive year playing in the tournament together.

Charlie is now a sophomore in high school, where he has helped The Benjamin School win one Florida state championship and finish as runners-up the following year.

Tiger opted out of playing in his own event, the Hero World Challenge, which is held in the Bahamas. The legendary golfer admitted that he wasn’t quite ready to compete against the very best players in the world, as the field included top stars like Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Ludvig Aberg.

I’m still not there. And these are 20 of the best players in the world, and I’m not sharp enough to compete against them at this level,” Tiger said about last weekend’s event in the Bahamas,

“When I’m ready to compete and play at this level, then I will.”

Woods played in five events in 2024, making the cut in only one – The Masters at Augusta National in mid-April.

We’ll see what 2025 holds for Woods, but as his career continues to dwindle to more sporadic appearances, making time to compete alongside his son is a clear priority for one of the greatest players of all time.
