Williams first noticed a lump in May and, after an MRI, was advised that removal was optional. She initially chose not to proceed, but the cyst continued to grow, prompting her to reconsider.

Following a biopsy, which confirmed it was non-cancerous, her doctors recommended surgical removal. Williams shared her experience on social media, showing a video from her hospital bed and expressing gratitude for her health and the successful outcome of the procedure.

Serena, who recently turned 43, has been adjusting to life post-retirement since stepping away from professional tennis in 2022. She retired after an extraordinary career, during which she captured 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the highest for any woman in the sport’s

professional era, and an additional 14 doubles titles with her sister Venus. Williams spent over 300 weeks as the world’s No. 1 player and won four Olympic gold medals, solidifying her legacy as one of tennis’s greatest icons.
