Rickie Fowler’s superfan, known as “Pistol Pete,” made a spirited appearance in Japan to cheer on the golfer during the Zozo Championship, which kicked off on October 24. Dressed in the cowboy-themed attire of Oklahoma State University’s mascot, the fan sported an orange hat, scarf, and black vest over a white shirt, complete with a long mustache in homage to Pete.

This costume choice was especially fitting, given that Fowler is an alumnus of Oklahoma State, where he began his journey in amateur golf before turning professional in 2009. As Halloween nears, the fan’s choice of the iconic Pistol Pete costume brought a fun, festive atmosphere to the championship.

Pistol Pete has a rich history as the official mascot of Oklahoma State University, adopted in 1984. Inspired by Frank Eaton, a legendary scout and sheriff with a distinct cowboy look, Pistol Pete became synonymous with Oklahoma State’s spirit.

Fowler, known for wearing Oklahoma State’s signature orange in Sunday finals, has carried this pride into his professional career. His fan, clad in similar colors, added a unique touch of support as Fowler opened with a round of 68 and followed up with a strong 6-under 64, securing a place among the top contenders on the leaderboard.
