Ex-PGA Tour star explains reason behind LIV Golf switch after being dealt Ryder Cup heartbreak

Polish golf star Adrian Meronk has revealed his reasons for joining LIV Golf, leaving behind a PGA Tour card he had recently secured. In an impressive 2023 season, Meronk earned the DP World Tour’s Player of the Year title and qualified for full-time play on the PGA Tour in 2024.

However, despite his success, Meronk opted to join LIV Golf, joining Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC. In a recent interview, Meronk shared that he was drawn to LIV Golf’s reduced schedule and lucrative opportunities, which he felt would allow him more personal time and enjoyment.

Meronk reflected on the exhaustion he experienced after his standout 2023 season, which included a last-minute trip to defend his Australian Open title. Now playing on the Saudi-funded LIV circuit, Meronk noted the appeal of fewer tournaments, allowing him to balance career demands with personal well-being.

This strategic switch also came as Meronk faced disappointment in missing out on the 2024 Ryder Cup team, despite his achievements. After completing a full season on the LIV tour, Meronk made a solid showing in recent tournaments, qualifying for the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, where he continues to make his mark on the global golf stage.
